This can be frustrating, especially if you’re about to begin a long journey. However, we’ve created this blog to discuss the issues you may be facing and how to solve them. Issues with the camera not turning on could be due to:
- A problem with the camera’s battery
- An issue with the camera’s memory card
- A problem with the camera’s firmware
- A problem with the camera’s hardware
There could be a number of reasons why your dashcam won’t turn on. It could be a problem with the camera, battery, or power source. It could also be an issue with the memory card or a setting that needs to be adjusted. Whatever the reason, we’ll help you troubleshoot the problem so you can get back on the road.
Check the Battery and Power Source
If your dashcam won’t turn on, the first thing you should check is the battery. If it’s fully charged, the next step is checking the power source. Ensure the camera is properly plugged into the cigarette lighter if that is where you wired your dash camera. Alternatively, the alternate power source will need to be checked if you have hard-wired your dash cam.
However, issues with the battery may be caused by a number of reasons. If you’re using a battery-operated dashcam, it may be time to replace the batteries. Alternatively, if you’re using a dashcam that plugs into the cigarette lighter, there could be an issue with the fuse. If the fuse is blown, it will need to be replaced before the camera can be used again.
Check the Memory Card
If everything is plugged in correctly and the power source appears to be working, then you should check the memory card. It’s possible that there is an issue with the card that is causing the camera to fail. Memory card issues could be the result of a corrupted file or a problem with formatting. If you’re able to access the memory card, you can try reformatting it. However, if the memory card is corrupted, you may need to replace it.

Check the Settings
Once you have checked the power source and memory card, if the dashcam still won’t turn on, then it’s time to check the settings. The most common setting that needs to be adjusted is the “Auto Power Off” setting. This can usually be found in the menu of the dashcam. If this setting is turned on, it will cause the dashcam to turn off after a certain period of time. This is usually done to conserve battery power.
If you have checked all of these things and your dashcam still won’t turn on, then it’s time to contact us. We can help you troubleshoot the problem and figure out what is causing the dashcam to fail. We can also help you determine if there is a problem with the camera itself or if it’s something that can be fixed.
