We have several Viofo camera’s in our fleet as I like the discreet wedge design. The V3 appears to be exactly the same body as previous versions which is not a bad thing. Everything you need is included (you will also need the 3 wire hardwire kit if you want the use the advanced parking features), a long micro USB cable and a twin UBS adapter so you can power the camera and charge your phone at the same time which is handy, camera mounts (1 GPS and 2 non GPS), cable clips and a spare sticky pad if you need to refit the camera. Basic installation is very easy just make sure you do not block any airbags running the cable. It is discrete once installed especially if your car has a black area on the glass around the rear view mirror. You can chose the screen on time in the menu and you can even switch the LED’s and system sounds off so there are no distractions at all if you wish. The camera easily slides on and off the GPS mount. The V3 video quality is excellent with the high resolution 5mp sensor and high bitrate.

    Reasons we chose Viofo;
1 High quality Sony sensors which give great results in day and night time.
    2. Camera can accept up to 256GB memory card which is great as our vehicles are on the road for many hours per day.
    3. Super capacitor for temperature reliability all year round.
    4. Good design and value for money.
    5. Good support and regular firmware updates to improve performance and add features.

Long story short, this is the best dash cam you can buy for the money now, period. V3 (third version of this camera) now with the lens/sensor upgrade and buffered parking mode which truly works perfectly due my real experience beats much, much more expensive dash cams on the market.

I am a great fan of the Viofo range of cameras after having Nextbase and Transcend previously. I can say the Viofo cameras have been the best I’ve owned and I recommend them every day. My first Viofo cameras where the Viofo G1W-S, I used two in my car as front and rear and one in my truck which has no rear window. I now have the Viofo A129 Duo In my car and I’m replacing the G1W-S with this A119 V3. After trialing the A119 in my car for a couple of days I can say it is an exceptional dash camera. The 2560x1600P HD resolution is excellent and the image so sharp that the ability to capture car registration plates and other fine details is exemplary. The camera unit itself is very easy to fit and with just five buttons clearly marked on the front make it very simple to use, the menu system and settings are extremely easy to navigate and use so there’s no need to worry if you’re not so technologically savvy. I would also recommend purchasing the 3 wire hardwire kit from VIOFO so as to make use of the buffered parking mode feature which is incredible. A very worthy purchase.

Having used a Viofo dash cam before, I purchased this new updated version and the quality is the best. The videos are crystal clear and set up is extremely easy. Once installed, the camera is very discreet. The video quality is fantastic and night vision is very good.

The only thing you need to buy is a microSD memory card, the camera can support up to a 256gb card which will get you around 7-8 hours of FullHD recording. The default setting is that it just starts recording over any old footage once the card becomes full. Any bumps should be automatically saved and protected from deletion, same for any manual events you save using the big central button on the camera.

Everything else you need is provided out of the box.

Have to be honest, I’ve bought 2 and have yet to fit them with a hardwire kit as haven’t had time.

But I did my research and trawled through many comparison videos on youtube, reviews and recommendations from dashcam groups.

If you want to save yourself time, this is one of the best cameras for picture quality at reasonable cost and discreet installation.

Many of the more expensive units don’t necessarily give better picture, they just have more features (cloud connectivity for example). If you’re not running a fleet, £500 for a camera you can connect and view remotely is a bit excessive for similar picture clarity, lets be honest.

And as recommendation to anyone conflicted with 1080, 2k or 4k cameras, keep in mind the higher the density, the worse performance of picture clarity at night.

I settled with this one as most comparison videos showed this one picking up number plates much more clearer and consistently.

Now on my second Viofo A119,my first one being the V2 version that had a faulty screen and a few other faults but served me well for nearly three years so i decided to get the V3 version and it seems to be better in many ways.
The only downside is i would like to have an option to buy a smaller one without a screen that used Bluetooth and an app to change settings and view footage on the fly via mobile phone.

click the link to see a video review. I think it is pretty good for the money, £75 on amazon as I write this.

A good quality loop recoridng dashcam with motion detection, GPS and a host of other features. THis is the second one I have purchased – for the second car.

  9. Ian Carroll

Used viofo previously. Best value for money on the market

  10. Simon Massan

Both times I’ve ordered from Viofo, the purchases and delivery have always gone perfectly. The cameras, so far, are very good too.

I spent several weeks researching and viewing footage of pretty much all dashcams available at the back end of 2021 and settled on this one. It is easy to install and easy to use.
The footage is on par with more expensive cameras out there and for a fraction of the price.
This is definitely punching above its weight, the features this unit has for this price.
The install was a breeze using the hardwire install kit, I got my fuse taps cheaper off eBay.
Build quality is good, the body feels sturdy and robust.
Field of view is more than adequate.
    Colour representation is very good.
Night vision is also excellent thanks to the Sony Starvis sensor, I was very surprised at just how good the footage is on this cam.
Clarity of Reg Nos is great although where cars are moving on either side, expect to see a loss of clarity.
I love the button press function for locking clips.
Advanced parking mode lets you set your own parameters for recording, (time laps, event detection, low bit rate etc). NB you need the hardwire kit for this feature.
GPS mount is a brilliant innovation, allowing you to remove the camera with ease if required.

If I am forced to pic a downside it would have to be the user manual
